Policy-Based Cache Failover

Hi,

Can anyone explain policy-based Cache Failover (CFO) in simple way as described in Advanced SLB Guide of ADX 12.1.00. Since the diagram and description does not seem to co-relate.

Also, can we use CFO when active-active redundancy is there?

Thanks

Re: Policy-Based Cache Failover

CFO - This is used when the following are true;

     1 The router sitting above the ServerIron has a policy/filter defined to send traffic to the ADX

     2 Either the all cache servers are down or do not have the content requested

If NOT using CFO then if point 2 is true then the request would be dropped.

Hope that helps.

Re: Policy-Based Cache Failover

Thanks Mschipp.

Does Cache-Servers and Router has to be in same VLAN OR they can be in different VLANs configured at ServerIron.

Re: Policy-Based Cache Failover

I have not tested this - however from reading the manual I would think it should work on switched layer 2 or routered layer 3.
