Transition Date: May 6, 2024

We’re excited to share that VMware Communities is embarking on a new journey as we transition to a new platform under Broadcom Communities. This transition marks a significant step forward for our community, offering numerous benefits and opportunities for growth, improvements, and enhancements aimed at providing our users with a more seamless and engaging community experience.

What to Expect:

Enhanced Communities Structure:

While maintaining our VMware Community Environment, including discussion areas, product pages, document folders, and announcements, the community has been significantly enhanced.

We’ve moved to a brand-new platform with cleaner and more intuitive community navigation, fewer instances of spam, and an updated menu. You’ll be able to navigate through communities, learn, share knowledge, and interact with your favorite community users, friends, moderators, and community managers. Find help with products, interact, discover solutions, share your knowledge, and participate in your favorite programs.

Enhanced User Experience:

Navigate through communities, share knowledge, interact with peers, and easily access support.

Enjoy cleaner navigation, intuitive menus, and an updated platform design, offering a more streamlined and engaging user experience.

Product and Program Consolidation:

Our community will feature new pages reflecting the consolidation of traditional VMware offerings into products such as:

Your favorite programs now have a new home within the Broadcom Community:

What’s Happening Now:

  • DNS Migration: The DNS on VMware VMTN has been cut over, and we are finalizing the data migration to go live on May 6th under Broadcom Communities
  • No Action Required: Users don’t need to create a new profile on Broadcom Communities. Your account will be automatically migrated to Broadcom/Higher Logic Community, preserving all your data, points, and badges.
  • Migration Process: No action is needed from users. Your account will be automatically migrated to Broadcom/Higher Logic Community. Simply reset your password when prompted on May 6th to access your migrated account, complete with all contributions and points.
  • Badges: Badges will be recreated on the new platform since they are exclusive to different vendors, and Higher Logic has its own badge system.
  • Inactive Accounts: Accounts that haven’t been logged in for the past two years won’t be migrated.
  • Password Reset: On May 6th, expect an email from Broadcom Communities asking you to reset your password. Follow the instructions to renew your password and log in to the new platform.
  • Moderator Approval: Initial posts by new users in the new Community will require moderator approval. Members migrating from the legacy community can post immediately upon login, bypassing approval. This measure helps prevent scams and fake accounts, ensuring the integrity of our environment.
  • VMware Rewards Program: On Friday, April 5, 2024, the rewards program transitioned from Influitive to Base.ai. Both your lifetime and current points were transferred seamlessly. For more information, please refer to the FAQ here.

⚠️ Important Note: While we’ve taken every precaution, please be aware that some delays and instability may occur during the migration.

Let’s Make This Transition Smooth:

We understand that changes can be challenging, and we’re committed to making this transition as seamless as possible for our users. Stay tuned for further updates, and don’t hesitate to reach out to the moderators or your Community Manager with any questions or concerns.
