Guidance on first time upgrading Fabric OS

Later this month I plan on upgarding the firmware 2 on my IBM 16B-2 switches (Brocade 200E) and I am trying to figure out what to expect.  I have identified my update path and understand that I will need to place the updates on an FTP server in order to install them.  My biggest question is do I have to reboot the switch after each firmware update?  The switches are currently at Fabric OS 5.1.0b and I will be updating to level 6.2.2e as follows:

5.1.0b -> 5.3.2c -> 6.0.0c -> 6.1.1a -> 6.2.

Thanks!

Re: Guidance on first time upgrading Fabric OS

The switch OS reboots by a hareboot. But the ASIC remains operational during all the upgrade operation. This is why the Brocade upgrades are non-disruptive.

Wow - so just to confirm...hosts will not lose connectivity during the update?

Thanks!

Re: Guidance on first time upgrading Fabric OS

Hosts access to LUNs over the SAN remains functional during the upgrade. There is no impact to the hosts even if you have only one fabric.
