SAN Health can operate over WAN links to remote offices. However, a switch audit session will be administratively shut down if no response is obtained from the switch after a timeout period. Adjusting the various optional timeout response times for slow WAN links may be necessary.

Relatively low-speed links all the way down to dial-up can work. However, during the concurrent audit of a large number of switches, the traffic levels can increase past the bandwidth delivered through slow WAN connections. Auditing large fabrics over a slow WAN link may not be possible, a better solution may be to use a Workstation local to the fabric through Windows terminal server or remote control software such as VNC.
