Where are the VMware Fusion and Workstation forums?

  • 1.  Where are the VMware Fusion and Workstation forums?

    Posted May 06, 2024 10:44 AM

I can't seem to find forums for both VMware Fusion or VMware Workstation. Where are they?  - or were they forgotten in the migration

It appears that the migration didn't go as smoothly as it should have. I'm finding that I have posts in forums for products that I never posted in. And all the post that I've made over the years are missing.

@Technogeezer  - On day one of post-migration, we are prioritizing the issues, and we are working on the tickets.

We migrated all of the content and are working on sorting out any issues.  Four data sources merged into the Broadcom Community while we were shooting for smooth, but anytime you move in the real world or digital, there are data, config, DNS and other issues.  We appreciate your notes and patience as we stabilize.  @Julia Klaus and @Eric Nielsen

I am logging your notes tied to your username for analysis.   The VMware Fusion and VMware Workstation resolve incorrectly in Groups.

Fusion and Workstation should be under VCF, I will be there.

We are still moving things around. Thanks for noticing it, Paul,

They aren't there.  And apparently posts aren't working either (so this may be a duplicate).

Please tell me you're not merging Fusion and Workstation.

And I just edited that second duplicate post, and it disappeared, so apparently moderation is turned on permanently now?

Editing so we capture the entitlement issue as a separate bug.

I have a paid Fusion license, but am unable to download it - shows 'no entitlement'.

The forums are annoying, but not critical.  While I don't need to download it today, losing entitlements in a migration is...bad.

    Thanks Julia,

For now I can't find VCF either, nor the groups where they are supposedly at this moment.
Guess we'll have to wait a bit more before things are back to normal.

Oh FWIW, I did get a lot of "daily digest" emails for communities I normally wasn't getting any digests, so I promptly unsubscribed each of them.

edit: In the edit window there's a full thread? It includes posts made by others? A bit weird, but it might not be bad for having context right there when you reply.

Also note that hitting the actual post/save button takes anywhere from 30 seconds to a minute before it actually posts, which is far from ideal. Especially if you're an active community member and try to answer questions, it will take out the "active" part very fast I'm afraid.

edit 2: Via my profile I did find the "Tech Preview" versions of Fusion & Workstation. So we at least have the forums for the beta version(s) of our beloved desktop products.

Thanks Julia, I see the VCF community now. Not sure why I did not see VCF earlier.
PS: Your screenshots are not coming through.

Also the last "Post" seemed to be under 30 seconds.. I guess it will all take a bit of time to stabilize.

edit: Yes, it's faster now. About 10 seconds from hitting the button to actually post. Almost reasonable.

Things are still a bit slow now, due to the servers being overloaded, but
between today and tomorrow HL will be releasing a good amount of space and
deleting thousands of redirect links from older communities and things
    should be back to speed.

We are in the stabilization process, hang in there! 🙂

You can find the groups under "Groups" on the main menu as well. They were
    added there overnight.

Please message me if you detect anything out of place or missing. We
are still working on testing, and stabilization of the next two weeks, and
any feedback is valued. [image: Screenshot 2024-05-07 at 8.32.03 AM.png]

Ok, so the moderation is still in place, the forums are still missing, and the entitlements don't work.

    Sigh...

    Hi Julia,

Following up to test two things:

    1) To see if every post is still being moderated.

    2) To see if there's an ETA on fixing the download entitlements.

    Thanks!

  • 14.  RE: Where are the VMware Fusion and Workstation forums?

Yes please send over any information on the downloads for anything related to VMWare.  We need to download optimization tools and the knowledgebase for optimizing Golden Images on Vmware Horizon.

I knew there would be a transition but did not know we would not have any of the tools available from before.

    Thank you. Please hurry.

I'm sorry to hear about your difficulties downloading VMware Licenses.

    Please follow these steps:

    1. Go to the Broadcom Support Portal.
    2. Login with your credentials
    3. Once logged in, navigate to the "Downloads" section.
    4. Use the drop-down menu to locate The products you need to download, or enter your license key in the search bar to find the product related to your license.
    5. You should then see the option to download the tool you need,

    Seems like was solved

    2) To see if there's an ETA on fixing the download entitlements.

As you log into https://support.broadcom.com/ please watch for updates on the banner. This is a P1 case for us and we are working to have your data matching your profile as soon as possible.

Data is still being migrated, and some details might not be current. If you have no entitlements there, please come and check later.

Just out of curiosity, what are folks who do need to download supposed to do in the meantime?  Seems like giving paid customers access to their products should have been a go/no-go requirement for the migration.

Scratch that your account was being moderated.  Your email domain did not resolve on the actual domain it was redirected with in some cases, causing an account to be flagged as a spammer.

Please check on VCF front page note.

VMware Fusion and VMware Workstation Forums are still undergoing the loading process due to their significant size and they will be available under VCF by Thursday, May 9th.

I’m seeing this too. Both forums are listed in the VCF community but the titles can’t be clicked on - so they're not links.

The links on the VCF page produce the same error that I reported earlier.

Also, searching for Fusion under "All Communites" only shows the Tech Preview community.

You are correct,  it turns out the security permissions on the community must be for admin's only, sending in a escalation.  They work for the team because we are all admin.  On test accounts the links fail and drop take you to a page that can't access the content.

We will fix this and I will update the post.

    Thanks again.

I need to check why. The note on the front page is no longer relevant because we have VMware Fusion and VMware Workstation Communities, but I will check for future references.

    Thanks for reporting
