  • 1.  ESP Workstation 11.3 User Profile problems.

    Posted Apr 17, 2012 11:27 AM
We recently upgraded from 5.5 to ESP 11.3 Workstation. The existing user
profiles worked until the first time the workstations were shut down. When
the came back up, the User profiles were as they were before and not working
correctly. One of the worst symptoms is that unless the Workspace if tiled
horizontally and snapped in the correct place, you cannot move or resize the
box of any particular view, either custom or of an application. Also, I
cannot get the correct menu when I right click on a job or right click in the
open area of an application. All I get is View menu from the toolbar.

Can you point me to some documentation on the new 11.3 workstation, such as
specific details on how it works and how to resize the Workspace and views?

Kerry, we too had problems with 11.3 workstatins, we had to push the workstation out a second time to fix the problem. I would suggest you have it re-loaded on one desk top, reboot the desk top, then test, if it fixes it then do the rest.

    Hi Kerry,

What's the build number for your Workstation? You can find it from Workstation main menu->Help->About CA WA Workstation.

If it's less than 80, then I strongly suggest you install patch RO41352(can be downloaded from support online) which is a new install package; it will bring up to build 81. This patch and a previous one (RO34196, it's included in patch RO41352) resolve many known defect on GA level of Workstation 11.3, including your issues with Workload Director views. However I don't know about your issue with profile not saved, you may open a support issue to get more help.

I copied the comments from both patches:
    1. Workload Director slow to update Applicable PTF: RO10678
    2. Unable to edit in text mode when % is used in applId. Applicable PTF: RO16763
    3. Workload Editor: Cannot edit in procedure if the run statement contains nested parentheses. Applicable PTF: RO21922
    4. Workload Editor: Support for HELD_MANUAL and NOHELD_MANUAL Applicable PTF: RO21922
    5. Show one level dependencies graph Applicable PTF: RO21922
    6. Added the ability to save custom views in Workload Director to csv files.
    7. Workload Director shows incorrect tree structure if there are APPLs and SUBAPPLs with the same name in different APPLs.
    8. Installation - some system dlls are not registered.
    9. Workload Editor was incorrectly adding double quotes around the command if there is a space at the end.
    10. Workload Editor: the space before '+' was incorrectly being removed when '+' is at column 72, and last string before '+' is a variable.
    11. Workload Editor: support for short form(DESC) of DESCRIPTOR.
    12. Workload Director window loses layout information if the main WS panel is closed while the WD window is still open.
    13. Workload Editor: when a dataset has the word SCHED in it an error was being produced.
    14. Workload Director: layout gets corrupted when the connection is lost.
    15. Removed watermark on the help screens: CA Prerelease Documentation. Authorized Use Only.
    16. Workload Editor: corrected a parser error with multiple %'s in file name.
    17. Workstation does not list all the contents of a directory when the directory contains a large number of files or sub-directories.
    18. 'PURGTTOD' shows up as field name PURGTTO' in the drop down list for selection in the Report Manager.
    19. When simulating some events the following error occurs: "Error Display Graph Simulation. Unable to display graphical representation of the simulation result! Do you want to see simulation log?"
    20. Workload Editor is unable to open an application containing 'SELFCOMPLETING' keyword.
    21. Duplicate graph after inserting a WOB and simulating the Event.
    22. When scheduler inserts a job, everything seems to duplicate.
    23. Whenever starting up 'Attachmate' software and opening an existing session to connect to a mainframe, the Event Manager and Workload Director screens pop up.
    24. Corrected issue that prevented the user from connecting to multiple servers at once.
    25. Getting the message "Only one APPLEND job is allowed per application." When doing a copy/paste of a normal z/OS job.
    26. When using POSTREQ in applications the graph mode shows the incorrect dependency direction.
    27. Workload Editor: "Quotes stripped on appl download". Double quotes around the command value for Windows Jobs were being removed after the procedure was downloaded and not restored later. Double quotes are no longer stripped from the command value.
    28. Workload Director: "ESP Workload Director". The presentation of the short job name with generated qualifier in the workflow graphical view should be optional. This option is now available with a new radio button in the User Options dialog.
    29. Workload Director: "Drop Selected Resources". The drop command in the modify resources dialog did not set the quantity for each selected resource to zero. The problem has been fixed.
    30. Calendar Manager: "DECEMBER HOLIDAYS: ESPWSS650E". When the Windows locale is set to Portuguese, adding a holiday in December fails. Dependency on locale has been removed.
    31. Workload Editor: "Dashes in workload editor". A dash (-) in a resource name causes an error while reading the data. Dashes are now allowed in resource names. If the dash is the last character on the line, enclose the name in parentheses to avoid having the dash interpreted as a continuation indicator

Note: Known defect from 17-31 can be resolved by RO41352, but NOT RO34196.

    Hope this helps,

    Lucy

    Hello Lucy,

I'm also very 'new' to ESP - Experienced some minor difficulties on the Workstation and noticed the 'build' is 75. Downloaded patch RO41352 as per your advice above, but can't manage to unzip it with CAZIPXP or CAZIP. The 'problem' is that my machine is 64-bit, while (it seems) those utilities are 32-bit.

Any advice / suggestions from your side ? Appreciate.

    Kind Regards

    Ludi

There is a build 84 availavle. I downloaded it about a year ago and it
    works fine

Contact CA Support if you can't find it in the downloads.

    Hi Allen,

    I noticed there’s a build 91 – I just downloaded it.

But the problem is that I can’t seem to unpack / extract the patch as per the instructions :

    “Extract the patch as follows:

       CAZIPXP -U RO67066.CAZ”

When I try to run the CAZIPXP (I also tried CAZIP), it’s giving me the following error message :

“The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you’re running.

. . .” – and my machine (laptop) is running a 64-bit Windows, while this utility seems to be 32-bit.

Do you perhaps know if there’s a 64-bit version of this “CAZIP”-utility available, or maybe some work-around ?

    Kind Regards

I am not sure. You may want to open a CA Support ticket on that.

    Thank you Allen,

I logged a call last night and Support 'unpacked' the patch for me, I then had to download it only in a 'zip' format.
