    Hello,

Does anyone have any idea of the different Editor's that are used for XML and Gel Script besides Notepad++. Actually Notepad++ is not an approved software by our client and thus, I am in need of an alternate Editor for XML and Gel Script programming.

    Many Thanks,

    Suhail.

Well you can use "anything" to edit the XML file ; its just that clever editors (like notepad++) make it easier to do it.

Since your client doesn't like notepad++, perhaps the more relevant question is what editors do they allow?

("anything" meaning any text editor ; worst case vi or the Windows normal notepad I guess)

I recall someone on these boards promoting their own "XML spear" tool, but if you can't run notepad++ I would think you would have the same problem with any other non-standard tool.

    (I just use notepad++ though)

    What editors are approved?

    I use the following:

    Windows:

    •      notepad++ with the XML Tools Plugin
    •      Eclipse with the Eclipse Web Tools Platform XML Editor plugin

    OS X/Linux

    • Sublime Text
    • VIM

Hi Suhail, if you/client is looking for licensed XML Editor you could certainly try for Altova XML Spy. I used to use this tool for couple of year when I started working on Clarity back in 2007, it was nice xml editor.

If you are using v13.3 or later where the formatting of the xml out put is screwed up you can use XML Viewer Plus which allows to format it.

Typically I use a text editor and not a real XML editor.

I also used Altova XMLSpy and found it easy to use, useful.

Still have the license, though not using it since our IT resources supporting Clarity were beefed up in quantity and quality.
