Hello Friends, While installing ca itcm domain manager with remote mdb i am getting the error   [The installation of ca(management database mdb) failed return code 1603].

Please suggest on this. Screenshot for the error is in attachment

1603 is an MSI Error which is basically a ‘catch-all’ non-specific error. You will have to find the related MSI installation log file which will be in your user TEMP folder (%temp%) and review it to find out what the actual error was.

   Do you look install log files on temporary folder? 

 

   Is it install an upgrade?

 

1. Which browser do you use for downloading? Some browsers like IE can corrupt your file.
2. Looking for: SMB - Short file name
   • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem
   • Make sure the value “NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation” is equal to 0. This indicates that short file name creation is enabled.
3. Rights on TEMP and TMP folders
4. Password policy - https://support.ca.com/irj/portal/kbproblem?docid=494684&productcd=DTSVMG&problemnbr=1140

MDB UPGRADE FROM R11.2 SP4 TO R12 FAILED WITH 1603 ERROR.

Thanks Guys for your support, adding some more information in prior post as this is a fresh install of CA ITCM 12.9 with Windows 12 and using the remote SQL database for MDB.

At the end of the installation it shows ca management database failed and return code 1603.

 

While checking the logs in TRC_Inst2_ITRM looks like this :

I Think you will need to open a Support Case and upload all the %temp% files

as well as all Environment information so Support can review the files.

Check in %temp%\ITRM\database\mdb_install\install_mdb.log and see if there are any problems in that file.

1- your Database server is locally or remote and then if you use a named instance or modified default port sql 1433

If you are upgrading the domain manager, check the program files (x86)\CA\SC\MDB folder and rename it.  I've found 1603 errors will occur because of the version of Java included in the folder.  The installation will create a new MDB folder.
