Per User Installation of MSI Package

I have a application (Webex Desktop App) that I wish to install per user i.e. install it to the user %Appdata% area of the user profile for each user of a Windows 10 machine. Is this possible with CA ITCM 14.5?

Yes, I did a quick test and a standard MSI install works fine.



I changed two AllUsers=1 and Accept_EULA=True

How does this work Steven? SO if not users are logged onto the machine will this install it for them at logon or do I target the MSI at the user rather than the machine?

The WebEx MSI package takes care of it. When a user logs on it checks and if necessary creates the files under the %appdata%

I tired this Steve but it only created the per user Webex DB/logs under the %LOCLAPPDATA% area. The actual Webex binary is launched from %PROGRAMFILES% so its system wide.

So when you launch Webex what binary is in use?

OK so this is not a per user installation.

I guess the basic question, is do you want to deeply to all the users of a
Windows 10 Workstation and any new user that may login in the future?

Or do you just want to deploy to one or two specific users on a workstation?

To all users but in a per user MSI installation type.  For example, the user can run the MSI themselves as by default the Webex MSI runs a per user MSI installation and installs under %LOCALAPPDATA%

I am not sure that is the best way. Every time a user logs onto a system
for the first time you would have to redeploy Webex to them.



You should be able to do what you want (I have not tested), but you must
enable the Software Delivery User Agent and deliver the Software to the
User and not the Computer.
