    Hi,

    how to import vmdk file (created on vmware workstation) to vsphere ????? to get working as a virtual machine.

    Please reply in steps.

    I installed vmware vcenter converter, now trying to convert vmdk file by selecting source type "vmware workstation" & it is throwing error "the file selected is not from the supported source"

    What can I do now????

    VM Converter or copy vmdk into vmfs directory and while creating a new disk you must choose "Use an existing virtual disk".

    I've already imported vmdk into vmfs & trying creating new virtual machine, & putting this vmdk file in existing disk but again it is throwing error.

    OK, now I am also trying to import a vm from workstation.

    First I get a warning, but until noe I deon't see any errors.

    Have you checked out logfiles?

    Delete vmdk from vmfs.

    You should point Converter to .vmx file, not vmdk directly. So if you have vmdk only then create some dummy VM, connect vmdk as hard disk and point Converter to this vmx.

    From where I can bring vmx file??, where I can create dummy vm...in ESX 4 or vmware WS ???

    .vmx is file with VM configuration. You can find it in directory with Workstation VM you've just created.
