Deepu,
I tested my template without a location to make sure that was not causing the issue. Mine copied.
If this is still an issue please open a case with support so we can look at it. There may be a process using that template or something else blocking the part to copy the financials.

Hi Liz,
Thanks for your reply.
Please see my response below,
Do you have fiscal quarters set up for 4 years in the future? I know you said you have fiscal periods set up, but I recall when creating from template the cost plan dates move and your template plan is 4 years worth of quarters, correct?
Yes, fiscal quarters are setup 4 years into the future. I have fiscal quarters setup until 2035-Q4. In my case the quarters for the cost plan will run upto 2028-Q4.
Do you have any processes that run when creating the project or is the template part of a process? Some times these things interfere with the copying.
No, i did not see any process running on creating project from template.
Did the department and location copy over from the template to the new project?
The department got copied over from the template. Template does not have location populated,
I see that if the dates provide on creating project from template are like start of year (1/1/2025) and end of year (1/31/2025), then it works, the cost plan gets copied successfully. I tried 6/12/2025 to 6/12/2026 and it fails, plan does not copy.
regards,
Deepu.

Subject: Financial plans not getting copied while creating a project from template.
Hi Experts,
I have a project template with a cost plan.
On creating a new project from this template with start date and end date as the current date by default i get below message. Also, the cost does not get copied over from the template. However, i don't get the message in dev clarity instance however, issue occurs on Test instance.

I looked up this alert message an found this article which says that reason for this message is due to cost plan spanning time periods for which fiscal periods don't exist. But i have seen that fiscal periods have been created.
Also, i have noticed that if i change the start date on the 'New Project' screen to some other date say 1st January 2025, i don't get the alert message and financial plan gets copied over successfully from the template.
In the template the start date is 01/01/2020 and the start and end periods on the cost plan is 2020-Q1 and 2023-Q4 as show below.

Any ideas?
regards,
Deepu.
