  • 1.  Connection Error in ESXI: "HOST uses an unsupported protocol. ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH"

    Posted Dec 18, 2018 01:37 AM

So, its been a few months since I've needed to access my ESXI Web Gui.  But I have a support call and need to boot up my test VM so I can work with it.

But, seems that now with the new browser restrictions, I can no longer open the web gui.

    So, I need to know:

    1) How do I get access ASAP so I can do my work.

    2) Whats the long term fix?  I beleive its ESXI v6.5, but at this point I'm really not sure.

Any help on the above would be appreciated.

P.S. - I did try searching, but the search on here didnt give me any results.  Sorry if this has already been asked a billion times.

Which version/build are you currently using?

From what you write, you are still using s.th. prior to ESXi 6.5, so a workaround for now could be to use the "old" vSphere Client (https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/2089791)

    Hi Andre,

Thanks for responding.  I did find an extremely old browser that I was able to install and get access.  From inside the web gui, this is the version info under help -> about:

    1.8.0

    4516221

    6.5.0

    4887370

Still dont know what the path is moving forward, since it seems I am not prior to 6.5...
