Chris,
Check QI82743 before you go to z/os v 1.9. z/os v 1.9 changes the
AllowUserKeyCSA default to 'no' where it used to be 'yes'. We were lucky
and kept this parameter at 'yes' since there was other applications that
required it and so we did not have to do anything for IDMS. We have been
running z/os 1.9 in Production since May 4.

What version of the z/OS are you on Chris? You must be looking at 16.0
post sp2?

Re: r15.0 to r16.0 migration
Hello All:
I have migrated three Client sites so far to 16 SP5 & SP6 from IDMS 15. The
only issue that I encountered was that I did a base install of SP6 and it
downloaded the full SQL Version of a load module in a RELFILE and this
client did not have the SQL Option, so when we would exit from OCF we would
receive the LMP Error messages.
A fix was available and it was a full replacement for the module. The APAR
number was QO96265.
For UCFCICS Clients be careful if you have a separate job and reuse that job
for installing all the CICS Components, I did have a separate job set up,
release 16 introduced a new include in the link edit of IDMSINTC which was
done outside of SMP/E, that include is INCLUDE DISTLOAD(IDMSTMMC).
I have also installed IDMS 16.0 SP6 into a Z/OS 1.9 Shop that had
""allowuserkeycsa(no)"" with no problems if you follow the instructions in
QI82743.
In my opinion a bridge class is not necessary.

r15.0 to r16.0 migration
for those have already migrated from 15 to 16 - was it a smooth transition?
was a bridge class offered? did you attend? if not, would a bridge class
have been helpful? necessary even?
I am looking to migrate before the end of the year and was trying to set up
a game plan.
thoughts/ecperiences will be greatly appreciated

IDMS Server question
"I am looking for sites that are running multiple instances of CCITCP in order to handle large loads of IDMS Server transactions. If you are doing this, at what point did you need to add an additional instance? Any kind of benchmark, such as number of transactions per day, would be helpful.

Length of IDMS password
"Hi,
Is there anyway to get just the length of a user's IDMS password from
the USER record, since they are encrypted? We are running IDMS 16.0 SP01.
Thanks.

Re: Length of IDMS password
"If you mean the USER-047 it shows the password field is pic X(08) so
it's no longer that that. I believe Laderman has a utility program to
migrate user passwords as well.
