    Hi.

I am having problems creating the installation package, including Member of Groups, fuiz uploading the MSI format installation file to Source, and I created the Procedures of Local Install and Uninstall, and when I go in to execute in the catalog and request the software by the delivery is showing all the installation screens. How do I solve this problem?

Note: I do not want any screen to appear for the user when installing.

    Kind regards.

When you create a SD package from an MSI, you should ALWAYS

    Right-click on Software package Library

    Then select Import

    MSI-package.....

This will create the SD Package and all the Procedures for you automatically.

Let me know if that resolves your Issue.

You might need to delete the package you created to create the new package.

Let us know if that works.

Again it all depends on the package.  But here is a place to look

Depending on your package pass /quiet on the parameters line. You may need to include a response file to answer the question asked in the gui.  The software vendor should b able to provide with a silent install option.  You may need to expose added variables in the package such as ignore Eula(license agreement).

I would put the MSI in it's own folder on the DM  ...  example c:\msi

Right-Click on  All Software or Software Package Library

    Select  Import > MSI-package

You should get the MSI Package Registration Wizard Window

Select  Register MSI package to the Software Library Window    Next>

Browse to the MSI file  Next>

    CD-options  ... Do nothing      Next>

    Customize  ... Do nothing        Next>

    Finish

Then for the Procedures you want to use in the Catalog check off catalog enabled

and then copy the procedure to the Catalog folder.

Yes as I said it is package specific.  Take a look at the winzip package you have it most likely is silent.  If the package requires an ini or response file then it must be included.  You need to find out from the vendor what you need to do to perform a silent install for the specific package.

Is the question importing a package or having the package install silently.  The original  question was creating a package to install silently.  I assume you must already have one that installs.

My English is not the best, I will try to be clear, I need to make software available to users through Software Delivery, I have the Software installation file both .MSI and .EXE, I created an installation package in .MSI when I closed the package and I went to perform a test and requested the installation via Software Delivery appeared all the screens of installation of the Software, ie it was not automatically, what am I doing wrong?

    Help me

The original Questions was about silent install ,But since he created the package manually, he would need to add all those Procedure flags, if he let's the system create by importing the MSI , it should be created with all the proper flags.

The Error you are seeing is because the Software package, is already there(the one you created manually) , so you need to delete that from the catalog and then delete the Package, because you can't have 2 packages for the same software.

So Delete that Package and go thru the Import MSI steps again.

This points back to my original comments earlier.  The process is package specific.  You need to find out, from the software vendor the steps to install the software silently.  Often you need to provide a response file or a transform file.  Please provide me with the name and version of one of the packages.  I Will see if I can help.but as I said this is going to be product specific.  Each application has different procedures.

This is a program of the IRS for income tax return, it already exists in my environment last year's 2017 program and is working normally, installs in silence more was created by the former administrator of the tool.

Assuming it is the same as the old version look at all the properties of the old package and duplicate them.

If you want help with this.  Please export the 2017 software delivery package. To do this open the dsm explorer navigate to software>softwarepackagelibrary>all software and find the package.

Right click on the package select export.  Export it to an empty folder.

    Zip the folder just created.

In another file zip the new version.

Open a support issue, copy the 2 zip files to the issue.  Not in the text of the issue working with me.

After opening the issue send the issue number to me at Richard.Lechner@ca.com

    Hi,

I deleted the 2017 installation package and when importing the msi file 2018 the same error appears.
I can not open a support case because the company did not renew the support agreement.
I am completely lost managed the tool as I can

    Thank you

Well someone provided you the package.  You need to find out from them how to perform a silent install of the package.  Once you find out how let us know and we can walk you through the process of turning that into a software delivery package.

I think that you should open a support case so that someone can connect with you via WebEx and see exactly what you are trying to do then guide you through the correct process. This is probably taking much longer to work out than it should due to communications issues/incomplete understanding of the issue. Support can probably get you on the right track very quickly if they have more direct access to assist you via a support case.

No, if your CA support agreement is expired you cannot open a support case. When you said that earlier I understood it to mean you had not renewed your support agreement with the company which had supplied the software you were trying to deliver.

Steve is correct.  You cannot create a support ticket but I would still like to help but since you do not have a package( the old one that works).  I would have nothing to model it against.  You need to contact the software vendor to find how to install silently.

    Hello friends,
I made the installation via CMD and the installation happens silently, when I created the installation package it is generating an error:

"Error: in task execution. Native operating system error: 2 - The system can not find the file specified ..."

Note: The installation is attached via silent CMD, and the package created in DSM with the installation parameter.

    Best Answer

You are using an 'External' procedure type and specifying the executable exists at c:\temp\. The executable does not exist at that location.

Change this to an 'Embedded' procedure type, and don't specify a path for the executable, only provide the name.

When Client Auto sets up a delivery job, it transfers the entire contents of the package to a directory it creates for the job. This directory is within the Agent's installation tree. It then sets this directory as the CURRENT directory for the job, so it is usually not necessary to provide the path to the executable or any files it needs.

You should also look to see if the executable can write output to a log file. If so, provide the macro $rf as the log file name. This file will be uploaded after the installation is complete (whether successful or not) and can be useful for troubleshooting.
