  • 1.  Deploy software using custom created application

    Hi All,

    Have anyone developed a tool for performing software deployments. i know we can use DSM Explorer and CADSMCMD.

    But i am looking for a seperate tool which can be used in other machines aswell.. i have seen such tools some time back in our community but not able to find now.

    It would be very helpful if anyone shares the same.

    Can you be more specific about your needs? I have a few scripts which create deployment jobs for various purposes, tell me what you are trying to achieve and perhaps I’ll have a script which comes close.

     

    Having said that, you should be aware that since the scripts are calling CADSMCMD they do require the DSM Explorer to be installed. If you want to create deployments from a system which does not have explorer installed you would need a web services program.

    Hi Steve,

     

    Thank you for your quick response.

     

    Currently we use DSM explorer to initiate software delivery job on a client machine. We will perform this either from Domain manager or from other machines in which DSM explorer is installed.

     

    But we would like to initiate a software job from a machine where DSM Explorer is not installed, but client components are installed.

     

    This is just to avoid installing and opening multiple DSM explorers.

     

    Note: User who is trying to create the job will have rights to create a software job, so access will not be an issue.

    Beat me to it – that would be my suggestion. If you want a custom application though to avoid having to open the web console to do something repeatable, you would need a web services application.

     

    OR, use a script which calls CADSMCMD, installed on a machine with the Explorer installed, then use something like PSEXEC to call it remotely.
