We are trying to get our processes functionality working in Clarity 13.3. We want to try a out of the box process that came with Clarity but when I go to Organizer|Processes| Availalbe it shows me the process but there is no start button which is outlined in the help section. Any ideas why I cannot see and start this process.

    Hi Chris,

The out-of-the-box processes are object-based.  This means that they can only be run from inside individual object instances (i.e. a single project).  Some processes are auto-start processes which start automatically when a user performs a certain action on an object instance.  Others are On Demand processes that can be run from the processes tab of the object instance.

Processes must be validated and activated via the Process section in the Administration tool as well.  And the correct rights need to be assigned if you are not an administrator with all rights in Clarity.

You may want to start by reading through the Processes section of the Administration guide to find out more about how to use and create processes.  There is also training available on Clarity processes through our education group.

Once you get into this a little farther, please feel free to open cases up with support for more specific questions.

I hope this will give you enough information to help you get started with Clarity processes.

    Sincerely yours,

I am trying to run the Project Manager Approval process so that we can have more than one approver for timesheets. I do have a basic understanding of the process function as I have validated it and activated it as well. After I did this I was expecting the process to run as soon as a timesheet was submitted but nothing is happening. What rights are required for the resource that is submitting the timesheet for this process to kick off. The process is setup for autostart based on the status being set to submitted. I am the administrator from the project manager side. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Look at the Start Options page for the process.  Is it set to On Demand or AutoStart?  If AutoStart, what is the start condition?

Also, check the Start Step.  Is there a pre-condition there?  If so, what is it?

Thanks in advance for this information.

Would this cycle warning have anything to do with it?

That is just telling you that you have a loop in the process.  That message does not usually indicate a problem.

    Please answer my previous questions.

    Sincerely yours,

Please reply via the thread in the communities site.  All I am seeing are links that take me to unrelated locations on the communities site.

    Thanks,

Look at the Start Options page for the process.  Is it set
    to On Demand or AutoStart?
If AutoStart, what is the start condition?
The start Condition is (Timesheet Status =
    ‘Submitted’)

Also, check the Start Step.  Is there a pre-condition
there?  If so, what is it?
    (Timesheet.thisTimesheet Status = ‘Submitted’)

So the process should auto-start when the timesheet is submitted.

You can go to Initiated Processes Tab (under Administration - > Processes) and check if the process has started and on what step is it.

To go back to your original question: only 'On Demand' processes can be started at will (eg. via Start button or 'Execute a Process' job).

    Hope this helps.

I did check to see what was Initiated uner the Initiated Processes Tab and there is nothing there. So the process is not kicking off when I submit a timehseet.
