    HI,

Stdlogs are full of these below messages. Can somebody suggest the reason? SDM is running and usable.

    Hello Anusha

In general if no functionality is lost then you need not worry too much about  these error messages. They mean that some function tried to convert some data from BPData to ValueVALNX but the BPData variable was null so the conversion function logs this error and returns a NULL converted variable of type ValueVALNX.

Unknown data type (-1) for parm (1) in Sql_cnx::prepare_statement() - INSERT INTO event_log

Cannot insert the value NULL into column 'id', table 'mdb.dbo.event_log'; column does not allow nulls. INSERT fails.

    - Are you trying to insert data into any of the tables?

    - Are you trying archive/purge on the event_log table?

    - The error here indicate the inserts are happening into the event_log table. There could be some rouge entries in this table resulting in these errors.

Also you may consider restricting entries into the event_log table. The Event_log table stores all the different activities that take place on SDM. In the Event_log table there is a column called Event. This column value varies from 1-21.

    Event - Value

    Login - 1

    Logout -2

    CR_CREATE - 3 and so on..

The system environment variable @NX_EVENT_LOG_EXCLUDE, which is set in the NX.env file and requires a restart of the CA Service Desk Manager services, lets you control the amount of data that is stored in the event log (event_log table). This variable lets you store only the events you want to track, report on, and use as part of the Recent Activity that can be launched as a button from the Quick Profile page.

In this variable, commas separate list items (for example, @NX_EVENT_LOG_EXCLUDE = FAQ,KD_OPEN). For example, if you use the LOGIN,LOGOUT events from the following table (@NX_EVENT_LOG_EXCLUDE value of LOGIN,LOGOUT), the product does not record login and logout events.

For more details on Event_Log values and how to exclude refer Page 354 - Event Log Data Storage Customization- of the Servicedesk R12.7 Implementation Guide

    Hope this helps.

    Regards
