Hi, I am out of ideas! We are using CA PPM 13.3. We created project templates for our PMs and PMOs, and sometimes those Templates have roles within their teams. However, when one would create a project from one of those template projects, he would always get the annoying error ; "PRJ-10007"... does anybody have any ideas?

    Hi Navzjoshi,

    Yes here it is :

"ERROR PRJ-10007: You do not have the rights to add team members to this project.
The copy from template operation failed to complete successfully. The project has not been fully realized based on the template."

However, the template I was trying to create from with my "dummy Project Manager account" didn't have any Roles/Resources assigned to its team....? :S

    Thanks,

       Description

When a project is created from template which contains roles as part of an OBS, when saved the project will throw the following error:

Error: PRJ-10007: You do not have the rights to add team members to this project.

    Example STR:

    1. Create an OBS (OBS1).

    2. Create roles make them part of OBS1.

    3. Create a project and with the roles created above and make it part of OBS1.

    4. Mark the project as a template.

    5. Create a user (user1) and make part of an OBS1.

    6. Create user (user2 ) and assign the following rights:

Project - Edit management over OBS1
      Project - Edit over OBS1
      Resource - Edit over OBS1
Resource - Hard Book over OBS1
      Global Resource - Navigate rights
      Global Project - Create rights

    7. Log in as User2 and create a project from template.

    8. Change the project manager to user1.

    9. Save the project.

Expected Result: Project should be saved successfully.

Actual Result: Error: PRJ-10007: You do not have the rights to add team members to this project.

    Solution

This is due to the Clarity Defect CLRT-22563.

    Workaround:

Assign Global right "Project - Edit Management - All" to the user creating the project from template.

    OR

When creating the project from template , do not change the project manager until you have saved the project.

The error is exactly the same... However, I do not wish to give "Project - Edit Management - All" rights to anybody... Because they would have access to editing other B.U.'s and OBS's Projects as well... Do you know any "similar" access right to this?

Because my PMs' group have access to Project - Edit Management (at OBS level only), however, we gave them access to manage some other (specific) Business Unit's resources which include those assigned in templates.

The second option is not applicable unfortunately, since the PM or PMO are not changed, they come from the template directly.

    Thanks a lot,

Assuming you have granted Hard booking rights for the roles, have you tried granting "Project - View Management" rights?

PPM seems to have business rules that govern the relationship between booking rights and edit or view management rights over projects.

If you have Edit rights over a project, PPM assumes you are the Project Manager and also assumes you will be Soft booking resources.

Conversely, if you have View rights over a project, PPM assumes you are a Resource Manager and assumes you have Hard booking rights over resources.

    Project Edit = Soft booking

    Project View = Hard booking.

    Give it a try :-)
