    Hello Vineet,

    Email integration to Gmail is not certified.
    -------
    SMTP Mail Servers
    * Microsoft Exchange Server 2010
    * Microsoft Exchange Server 2007
    * Microsoft Windows SMTP Service
    * IBM Lotus Domino 6.5.1
    Note: Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 and 2007 supports SSL communication; however, the Service Desk Manager e-mail interface cannot communicate via IMAP or POP3 in SSL mode.
    Note: IBM Lotus Domino 6.5.1 does not support AUTH PLAIN authentication. To workaround this issue Service Desk Manager can be configured to send e-mail to the Microsoft Windows SMTP Service (which supports AUTH PLAIN and NTLM authentication), and then have the Microsoft Windows SMTP Service relay the e-mails to IBM Lotus Domino.-------

    But that suggests a possible workaround of going via the Microsoft Windows SMTP Service relay.

    Brian had an issue with a similar query and provided this advice:

    -------
    GMail POP3\IMAP4 and SMTP require SSL and\or TLS respectively.
    ServiceDesk mail interface does not support SSL\TLS (inbound and outbound). As a result trying configure ServiceDesk with Google Mail (GMail) will not work as it is currently not supported. Agreed to close the issue.
    There are several enhancement issues raised for ServiceDesk mail interface to support SSL.
    -------

    with the follow on:
    -------
    Documentation for setting up Service Desk with Microsoft IIS SMTP connector:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/230235
    http://fmuntean.wordpress.com/2008/10/26/how-to-configure-iis-smtp-server-to-forward-emails-using-a-gmail-account/
    -------

    Another colleague gave this advice:
    -------
    Informed that they may integrate the SD with gmail for email and maileater. However, they must ensure that the relay service should be enabled for the SD server on the gmail server. They need to contact gmail to get these details.
    -------

    However, in neither case can I confirm that the Gmail configuration actually worked at the end of this.

    Please log an "Idea" (top right of thread) to request specific Gmail certification for SDM.

    Do let us know if you get it working - and how!

    Thanks, Kyle_R.

    Hello,

    If this is only for testing (dev environment), you can mount your own mailserver on your server, hmailserver for example.

    For example:
    - you create a domain @example.com
    - you create two accounts: servicedesk@example.com and vineet@example.com
    - configure your settings to receive localhost without smtp authentication.

    Documentation:
    Set up local / stand-alone server
    Configuration | SMTP settings
    Configuration | External accounts

    Great point! Always see if there is another way to achieve the same business end. Good one, rmcardoso.

    Hi Vineet,

    Please verify the steps from this document Email Notification and is applicable for R12.7 version except accessing the message template.

    Thanks,

    Vineet, if you have configured mail with hmailserver you have missed mail_smtp_domain_name.

    mail_from_address

    test@cnpl.net [[color=#64fc00]OK[color]], if your mail is this.

    mail_login_password
    rC+QzYUIfX6CgdsGW..
    [[color=#64fc00]OK[color]] password encrypted

    mail_login_userid

    test@cnpl.net [[color=#64fc00]OK[color]]

    mail_max_threads

    3
    [[[color=#64fc00]OK[color]]

    mail_reply_to_address
    test@cnpl.net [[color=#64fc00]OK[color]]

    mail_smtp_domain_name

    NONE [[color=#f73b15]WRONG[color]], its your DOMAIN NAME. Name of your machine. Write[b] hostname on cmd, and check your domain name.

    mail_smtp_hosts

    cnpl.net
    [[color=#64fc00]OK[color]]

    mail_smtp_host_port

    25
    [[color=#64fc00]OK[color]], this is the default port for incoming mail (smtp)

    mail_smtp_security_level
    1 [[color=#64fc00]OK[color]]

    Try, test and reply! :)
    Regards

    HI All,

    Another free mail server tool is Mercury mail http://www.pmail.com/downloads.htm.
    Very easy to use.
