    Hi, I am using VMware® Workstation 17 Pro 17.5.0 build-22583795

    Host is running
    DISTRIB_ID=LinuxMint
    DISTRIB_RELEASE=20
    DISTRIB_CODENAME=ulyana
    DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Linux Mint 20 Ulyana"

    Guest is also running

    DISTRIB_ID=LinuxMint
    DISTRIB_RELEASE=20
    DISTRIB_CODENAME=ulyana
    DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Linux Mint 20 Ulyana"

    It so happens that when in the guest in a directory where there are for example .txt or .pdf files you alternatively click right and left cursor arrows several times, the guest completely freezes. The only way out is to restart the machine.

    It does not happen on the Host OS
    I changed keyboards, and also changes USB ports where keyboard is plugged in.
    I also went back several snapshots just in case it was a distribution problem

    It does not appear to happen on a windows guest.
    Please help.
    Thank you
    Edgar

    I am also having the same issue. The display is frozen and you can't interact with the guest graphical interface, but you can still ping it. The only way to fix it is by rebooting it. I'm running Ubuntu 22

    Same here, VMWare Workstation 17.5.0 build-22583795 running on Rocky Linux 9 (it's the first version that I can run successfully on this RL9), guest is a CentOS 7 GNU/Linux, which will soon or late totally freeze, then I restart the latest snapshot and voila.

    Ok, for what is worth, I had to go back to

    VMware® Workstation 17 Pro
    17.0.2 build-21581411

    This version is working fine. It was not a kernel issue since it happened with older snapshots.
    I hold a license, but I currently do not have paid support.

    It is unfortunate that without such support you can't reach VMware people, since it is clearly a bug in the product, and it is in their interest to be aware of it.

    There is also another thread that under a different title talks about the issue.

    Have a good day

    VMWare needs to post a PSA. This is getting ridiculous.

    Fix: https://communities.vmware.com/t5/VMware-Workstation-Pro/Workstation-17-5-0-enhanced-keyboard-driver-problem/m-p/2995695/highlight/true#M183774

    Employees know about it. Support knows about it. Yet, nothing publicly acknowledging this problem.
