  • 1.  Can't purchase upgrade for Workstation 15 Pro to 17

    Hi,

    I have an active and working licence for WS 15.

    I'm currently running 15.5.7

    When I go to the Online Shop, it tells me I have "no licenses eligible for upgrade"

    In vmware's licence-management in customer-connect, I can see my license, but it isn't listed in "Upgradable".

    I thought 15 can be upgraded to 17?

    15 should be upgradable as it states:

    Thanks for the reply, I thought it was upgradable... but the sales page simply says no, I can't get any further.

    As Scott states and shows, it definitely IS an upgradeable path.  Having said that, certain licenses are NOT upgradeable (I personally have one for version 7 I received from VMware as a reward for something - I can't remember what as it's obviously been quite a number of years ago!).  Your best bet is to contact VMware Sales, who can look up your info and either help you upgrade your license, or explain why it cannot be upgraded.

    I don't understand HOW to contact support.

    The "Support assistant" is rubbish, it gives a blank answer and then says sorry it couldn't help further.

    I can't seem to escalate to a human.

    The "Locate a Partner" isn't useful, I'm not sure what partner I'm supposed to connect with.  They all seem like vmware-cloud providers, noone sells the workstation.

    I am lost, what is the next step to resolve this issue?

    You should be able to email the sales department... sales@vmware.com... well, that's what it used to be before this Broadcom takeover.

    I emailed sales@vmware.com nearly a month ago now, on Dec 14.  No response.

    What do I have to do to get an answer?

    Is your license in the Customer Connect portal?

    It checks there for a valid upgradeable license in the account.

    If you have one and its in your CC portal, I'd recommend filing a support ticket from within the portal.
    The GSS team can help figure out what's blocking the upgrade.
