  • 1.  Issue with VMware Virtual Ethernet Adapter for VMnet 1 | VMnet 8

    Posted Dec 03, 2023 03:52 PM

WMware Workstation player 17.5.0 cannot configure the virtual network. The host cannot connect or communicate with the guest. There is a warning sign on the VM network adapter. I also can't create a connection bridge in Virtual Network Editor. I uninstall the workstation many times even though the VM network is not working properly. Attach error snap below. I need help resolving the error!

vmnet1 and vmnet8 are typically only for bridged or NAT mode.  Have you configured those settings within the virtual adapter to communicate with the host (laptop/workstation)?

Here is a useful first-step doc from VMware on that specific topic:

If it is more the case that you have made those configuration settings and it's still not working, it could possibly be a network driver on your host machine.  Most current network adapters and OS's support workstation vmnet configs via API, so also rule out if it is a (very) old host machine (I'm assuming that is not the case).
