  • 1.  A question about Full Screen in DOS 6.22 VMware Player

    Posted Jul 23, 2010 11:50 AM

    Hi

I have a Dos program that I run it in Dos 6.22 machine in vmware.

in VMware Workstation ACE 6 I run my program in Full Screen mode by add pref.autoFitFullScreen = "fitHostToGuest" in the end of preferences.ini file in the %userprofile%\Application Data\VMware path.

Now I create a package from it and I run it in vmware player But it is'nt in Full screen mode !

How can I solved this problem ?

    thanks

I am using Workstation 7 (no ACE options enabled) and was able to have my MS-DOS VM come up full screen by doing the following:

    Edit the virtual machine settings

    Click on the options tab

Click on power settings (in the left hand screen)

Click on 'enter full screen mode after powering on' under the power options (in the right hand screen)

The next time I start the VM, it is in full screen mode.

If I remember ACE correctly, you could then build a package based on those settings which should work.

    good luck.........Bruce

I have the same problem! Please help!

See screenshot attached, running a quick basic program that comes with my versions of MS-DOS 6.22.

VM is fullscreen. The program is not!

    What to do?

Make sure you have View-->Stretch Guest-->Keep Aspect Ratio Stretch checked.

I can't see where this is. I am sending you a screenshot of the menu I see.

I it because I have the free version of VM?

Yes, scaling is a Pro feature.

If your VMware window is set for the correct monitor size and you have a large unfilled screen with small DOS text in the center.  Exit out of DOS. restart VM Virtualbox Manager. Select your setup DOS version. in the setup text you will see Display and Double Click on it. Find where it says Scale Factor, " For DOS 6.22 and my Monitor I changed it to 200% with my graphics controller already set  to VMSVGA." You may not need to change the graphics controller.

This should work for you !
