IDD Record and Element Structures explained

Looking through some archives recently I stumbled across this excellent description of the role that the[font=Courier New] INQ, ELEMSYN, SR, RCDSYN, NAMESYN[font] and connecting structures in IDD are all about.

I thought that there might be some out there who will find this of interest - for those people I have attached the discussion which starts with a question from ChrisH, an explanation by ChrisT and fullsome praise from KayS.

My part in this was to draw the picture that shows the structures which are discussed - and of course to preserve the discussion for posterity.

I am amused to be referred to as ChrisT. I should point out that that I am in no way related to the other Christ - recently celebrated over Easter - and that my insights are not divinely inspired.

Does anyone have news from the WIZIDD that is Kay Sussman, the Mystic Matron of the IDD? Last time I saw her was in New Orleans a good few years ago. She was about to retire back then.

(For the benefit of new bunnies, Kay was the Wizard who designed the IDD. WIZIDD was the licence plate of her car.)

Kay Sussman and Gary Bronzeit are the only two I ever new who let their computing careers spiIl over into Cherished Licence Plate Territory. Sad or inspired? I don't know. Has anybody else done it? I shan't quote Gary's Licence Plate. He can tell you if he wants to.

You forget Dick Weiland from CA in Chicago and his plate tag (unless he’s changed it.) Stood up to CA with it as I recall.

I recall Dan Fish, out of the NCAL sales office, had vanity plates that read IDMS MAN.
