  • 1.  ESP z/OS to ESP dSeries migration for one application.

On a mainframe ESP environment with numerous server agents, one application runs exclusively on one server.  The application owner is seeking to take this application and have it's scheduling standalone without a mainframe component.  How easy or complicated is it to port the relative definitions from ESP z/OS over to an ESP dSeries environment?  We presently have no exposure to ESP dSeries.  Where does it sit on the range between drag-and-drop to full baseline reimplementation?  Thanks!

    Hi,
Let's start with:....It is not a drag and drop.
I believe the Broadcom Services group would be able to do it fairly quickly. ESP and dSeries functionality is extremely close. It may be worth investigating the cost for the conversion.
Defining each job manually would go quicker than you think.  The issue in the manual method comes down to fat fingers and oooppps.... This can be RISKY!!!

Thanks, Don.  Actually, it isn't our issue.  It's a system that we are hosting the mainframe for.  Someone else administers the server side and will be taking on the conversion and admin.  I'm trying to see what it will entail to brace them on what they are going to be taking on.  I appreciate the feedback.
