I've tried to install windows 11 on fusion multiple times but it either crashed without report or raised various errors

Had same issue. Found where it was putting the end file and deleted it. So that might help you get that step out of the way, But then it appeared to work at least as far as download but it turned out to only download a server version not a workstation version? And there is not option to change? So if you make it past this stage would love to hear about it as I gave up after 8 attempts and 8 downloads.

Microsoft just started releasing Windows 11 24H2. Not sure what the problem is - or if this is a Fusion problem or a Microsoft problem.

I'm going to run a few tests and post back to what I'm finding.

@Michael Roy: Can someone from VMware start looking into this ASAP as it looks like Microsoft's new release is keeping people from creating new Windows VMs on Apple Silicon?

Fusion doesn't seem to think that the Windows 11 ARM 24H2 ISO is indeed Windows 11. It seems to think it's Windows Server, and mis-configures the virtual machine because of it.

I'm actively working on a work-around to this that looks promising. Stay tuned for a couple of hours and I think I'll have a way out of this mess.

Note that VMware has not officially announced support for Windows 11 24H2 as a guest operating system - that might be at the core of this issue (and that Windows 11 24H2 was just released a couple of days ago). The mechanism being used to download Windows 11 ARM is forcing 24H2 on us, and not allowing us to go back to 23H2 which would download and be recognized properly as Windows 11.

That being said, I think we will be able to make it work.
