    Hi,

I'm trying to install 3.0-39557 and I get the error message "Error 1920:Service VMWare converter service (ufad-p2v) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services."

I have admin rights -- I installed the vm player fine -- but I can't get beyond this point. I tried a reinstall. I tried uninstalling vmplayer and then installing.

I tried starting the service myself and I get "Error 1075: The dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion"

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Thanks

    -Dave

Is the PC part of a domain? Are you logging on as a local user or a domain user? Did you check the Local Security Policy to see if you have access to log on as a service? If a service has been marked for deletion you should probably reboot so that change takes effect and try again.

Check if you have an AD policy that is restricting your user from running this service even though your user has been given administrator privileges for your machine.

I was having this exact same issue a moment ago. I was just now typing in this little box asking to see if someone could help me with my problem. However, as I was typing it, the installer completed successfully! Before I tried installing again, I went into the Local Security Policy and added the administrator account to the "Log on as service" policy. I then rebooted and everything seemed to work just fine.

After I had installed the VMware Converter Agent onto the laptop I didn't have any luck so I decided to install both the agent and the manager software. When I tried to install both of those, I could not get the services to start. Come to find out the dependencies for the VMware Converter service were not running, after turning those on it started up.
