    Posted Oct 12, 2021 07:45 AM

    Hi Team,

Recently, i have purchased 10Gig Qlogic Network card and inserted into my ESXI host server whos model is mention below. Everything is working fine i can see that 10Gig card in the physical Vmnic section in the vmware. Then i have create a virtual switch and port group so that i can used it with my windows server. Everthing is again going fine but when i check the LAN Card speed its showing me 1Gig speed rather then 10Gig, it should be 10Gig.

Please help me to resolve this issue. I have also attached all screenshot for your reference.

    Thank you

    ESXI Version: 7.0 Update 2
ESXI Hardware Model: Dell PowerEdge R730
My 10 Gig Card model: QLogic Inc. QLogic 57800 10 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter

Add a VMXNET3 based vNIC and not a e1000e one.

    Ciao

Try to use the VMXNET network  adapter and not E1000 network adapter on Windows Virtual Machine

And now take a look into the windows device manager and ask your self what the yellow explanation sign should tell you when expand the network cards tree.
Hint: Its starts with VMware and ends with Tools

Why does it matter to you what a VM guest OS shows the virtual NIC speed as?

That's only a connection between the VM and the vSwitch, which has nothing to do with the physical NIC unless you're using the physical NIC as a PCI passthrough device.
