    Hello

I'll start here. I've introduced Windows Server 2012 & 2012R2 servers into my environment over the last year.
I don't have any problems with the performance on these servers when they are booted up, however when I need to restart these server is can take aroun 35 - 55minutes for the server to do a full recycle.

This cannot be by design. Some of the servers are only running basic file sharing servers. The servers are all patched with the latest o/s patches available.

The same slow restart time is happening on all 7 of these server and it is providing to be an administrative nightmare.

    I have 4 hosts , running 5.1 , 2000251.

Is this a VMware issue or a server issue?

    Thanks

What does the Windows eventlog of those servers say when rebooting them? Did you monitor the usage of cpu, disk, network, storage when rebooting?

    Thanks

I didn't start getting that granular, because all the servers are experiencing the same problem.

This is only affecting my servers which are virtualized. I thought I'd start here and see if it was a known issue with vsphere 5.1.

I know on 5.0 2012 didn't run properly and did have some issues.
