    Hi All,

I have an migration case of one physical server which has operation system as Windows server 2008 R2 without service pack.

The server was migrated from physical environment to virtual using VMware standalone convertor 6(using proxy mode) successfully

But post migration ,when we tried installing the VMware tools ,the server went into black screen at ctrl+alt+del screen

By troubleshooting we found that ,the new VM was not supporting the VMware SVGA Video driver.

When tried installing the VMware tools(by-passing the video driver),the server was able to show the ctrl+alt+del screen in console view

Even if I tried manual installation of the video drivers, the VM is not giving the proper screen, its still black .

However few things to note which might help in getting fruitful answers:

    1. Due to some policies, server had no CDROM driver. Might have been disabled. Thus the VMware tools were installed by getting the correct ESX version.

    2. All the other machines ,in the Vcenter are facing no issues like this one

    3. All the other drivers are getting installed properly

    4. Problem was detected during test phase, when the new VM was turned on without network card.

    4. Tried increasing the video memory to 32 MB didn't helped.

    5. Checked the registry for any exception. Found none

    6. Tried installing many version of VMware tools but no luck.

    7. Migrated the server to different vcenter but same result

    ESX version:5.5

    VSphere-5.5

    VM hardware version:8

Please let me know if anyone has solution for this.

Reply me for any other details.

Your help is really appreciated :smileyhappy:

    Thanks,

    Ayush
