  • 1.  Windows 7 64-bit client on ESXi Load Driver Issue

    I am trying to install Windows 7 Pro 64-bit on a ESXi 4.0 hypervisor. I receive the message "Load Driver - A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now."

    I can't seem to find the appropriate driver to continue the installation.

    Fine! It was moved to where? I don't see a link the post. And I still don't see an answer to the question.

    What gives with Windows 7 on ESX, or even VMWare Workstation 7? I get the same error message when trying to install from an ISO on these systems. It is the technet version of Windows 7 Enterprise. And before somebody says it ...

    NO. It is not a bad ISO. I have burned the ISO and installed physical machines with it. So the ISO is good.

    this is a known issue

    in my experience this are the reasons:

    80 % - bad iso-file - dowmload again and check md5sum

    10 % - user claims his iso-file is good - we tell him to re-download it - the user does this - and then it works

    10 % - user used "easy install" - we tell him not to do so - then it works
