I am trying to shuttle some config files around via floppy drives as we don't have copy/paste enabled on our vpshere client.

I used the vsphere client to create a floppy image on the local datastore.

    i mounted the floppy disk.

when i access it via windows server 2008 r2, it prompts me to format, and fails.

i have tried numerous format options and can't get it to work. are floppy images read only?

    am i doing something wrong?

    thanks

    Gd

How are you creating the image? Have you tried already any tool, like http://www.chrysocome.net/rawwrite ?

    thanks for the reply.

i checked out the utility you suggested, but i'm not creating a image from a real floppy. i just want a blank floppy disk to push and pull files. i dont even know if any machine i have still has a floppy disk to go that route.

anyway the method i used was to just create a floppy image from the vsphere console.

If you edit a VM. Select the floppy disk, there is an option to 'create a new floppy disk image in datastore'.

Specify a name and you get a empty floppy image? at least that what i assumed.

Hmmm really don't know if it creates or not. Can you also try to download an image with some content, and try to access it? Like this one: http://download3.vmware.com/software/vmscsi-1.2.0.4.flp (SCSI drivers for Win XP/2000)
