  • 1.  vRA 8.8 dont show Onboarded VM in my Resource Usage section

    Posted Jun 13, 2022 06:16 AM

    Hi everyone

After upgrading our vRealize Automation (vra) to version 8.8, onboarded VMs don’t show in the “My Resource Usage” section on the “Catalog” tab!
And “VM count” and other resources show and update just for new deployed VM that create from the cloud template.
This issue doesn’t solve even after upgrade to 8.8.1.

Thread reported, a moderator should now move it to the vRA area.

Have you checked if there is no filter applied
you can check deployed , Onboarded using cloud assembly resource center

    *BUG Report*

in my Resource Usage Section there is no filter option.
vm count is 0 and doesn't count onboarded VM.

while in Resources tab, shown all of Onboarded VM that's Owned by me.

In the previous version (8.7), this part worked properly
but After the upgrade to 8.8 , I encountered this problem!

Yes in cloud assembly number of onboarded and deployed VMs is correct but in Resource Usage section it only show deployed VMs.

I think it's bug because I test this situation in test environment and it happened again...

Yes, I opened a ticket about this.  It has been confirmed as a bug.

I have been told  that a future release will count VM resources as they are onboarded, but VMs that have already been onboarded will never be counted.

Basically any non-greenfield deployment would need to offboard / onboard all previously onboarded VMs again (which AFAIK would be non trivial as Ownership information would not be retained without external methods - I for instance make vRA 8.x set and update the old 7.6 'VRM Owner' custom attribute).

This also breaks Quota Policies, which do not count onboarded VMs against the quota...
