    Hello, :smileyhappy:

Today is my second test day with VmWare vSphere (Free Version)

Our idea is to use vSphere for our training room, means 8 virtual system (Windows 8.1) and our NVR Video management on each machine.

I use VmWare Workstation on my local desktop. Now i try to upload some of my images to our vSphere Server:

First try with "VMware vCenter Converter Standalone" but after i login to my server and choose the datastore the software shows me the error message below.

Second way i try was to upload direct from my VMware Workstation - but after i login to the server the message ist "waiting for host" - and i wait a long time bus nothing happens :smileysad:

I try the way with the Converter also from the same network where the server is located to be sure that now firewall rule is my issue - but the same error message was shown.

You find the log file attached to this content.

Hope somebody have a idea for me ...

Wish you a nice weekend !

    Jens

Do you have another, smaller datastore (e.g. less than 2TB) which you can use as the conversion target? And can you confirm that the target ESXi host is running on v5.5 (for HW version 10 support).

PS: Discussion moved from VMware vSphere Hypervisor to VMware Converter Standalone

    Hi André,

    i have two datastores:

Datastore1 = SSD Boot Disk about 120 GB

    Datastore0 = ARECA Raid 6 about 22 TB

I try also to upload the image to datastore 1 but the same error message.

And it is Hypervisor 5.5 what i use. (I try different HW version - same message)

Can it be a certification issue ?

I don't understand why you move the discussion, because i think it is no converter issue - same problem if i try the upload from my VMvare workstation!

    Different sources i also try.

And confusion is, i install the same hypervision machine to my VMware workstation - and image upload works! (I don´t upload becouse to less disk space but no error message)

    >>> Can it be a certification issue ?

It could be a communication issue. I found some older discussions where issues with the same error message were solved by rebooting the ESXi host. If this is currently not an option for you, maybe restarting the management agents on the host will already help. Just a guess, but maybe worth a try!?.

I moved the discussion, because I think you may get more feedback for this issue in this community. If you want me to move the discussion back to the original place, please let me know.

    Hi,

Yes i found this discussion and see that some user recommend a restart of the hypervisor server. But i try this also without success....

I will try again the restart and upload today with a connect to the same network. (No Router, No Firewall)

Did somebody now the communication port between "Converter" and hypervisor ?

    Hello

Converter connect on port 443 for inventory and management, and on port 902 for data transfer.

Though I don't think this is your problem. The log reads:

2014-10-24T12:11:46.841+02:00 [06548 error 'vmomi.soapStub[3]'] Error deserializating SOAP response body:

Seems there is something related to the ESX host's storage.

I'd suggest you get back to the platform forum (don't know which it is) and post more info about the ESX's storage.
