VMware vSphere Client - Cannot add Configuration Parameter

I have a web-based VMware vSphere Client. I need to add Configuration Parameter for a certain virtual machine as described in VMware documentation https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-vSphere/6.7/com.vmware.vsphere.html.hostclient.doc/GUID-8C639077-FF16-4D5D-9A7A-E16902CE00C2.html

I followed the official guide recommendations:

- Power off the virtual machine.
- Right-click on the virtual machine, select Edit Settings
- On the VM Options tab, expand Advanced
- In the Configuration Parameters row, click Edit Configuration
- the Configuration Parameters dialog box opens

Here, I should select Add Parameter, but there is no such option.

Instead, there is a message "Modify or add configuration parameters as needed for experimental features or as instructed by technical support. Empty values will be removed (supported on ESXi 6.0 and later)." The only clickable options are Cancel and OK. I cannot even change any existing parameter by clicking or double-clicking it.

How can I add new parameters?

I tried to open the VMware vSphere Client under Chrome and Firefox, both behave the same. I have two different virtual machines, both show the same problem.

Which user are you planning to use?

I am logging in to the vSphere Client using my domain username/password credentials.

The virtual image has its own credentials, but I suppose this is irrelevant, as the Configuration parameters are set within the vSphere Client. 

So do you think that my domain account has insufficient privileges to add the Configuration parameters?

Figures. As soon as I post this, I try again and the "Add Parameter" button shows up.  I did shutdown the VM. Maybe that was the difference. 🤷‍
