  • 1.  VMWare USB arbitration service not found

    Hello,

After creating a new vm running Server 2022 in vSphere we install the vmtools 12.3.0 but have run into an issue that when using remote console we click the VMRC drop down > Removable Devices > then connect the desired devices they don't actually get passed through to the guest OS. We have found the VM usb arbitration service is not listed in the services in task manager as it is on older servers that do not have this issue.

How do we get the vm usb arbitration service loaded on a vm running Server 2022 launched from remote console in vSphere?

    Hey

    1. Open the VM settings.
    2. Click the Add Hardware button.
    3. Select CD/DVD Drive.
    4. Select Use an ISO image file and click Browse.
    5. Select the VMware Tools ISO file for Server 2022.
    6. Click OK to add the CD/DVD drive to the VM.
    7. Power on the VM.
    8. Open the VM console.
    9. Mount the VMware Tools ISO file.
    10. Install VMware Tools.
    11. Once VMware Tools is installed, the VMware USB Arbitration Service will be loaded and started automatically.

If the VMware USB Arbitration Service is not listed in the services in task manager after installing VMware Tools, you can manually start the service using the following command:

    /etc/init.d/usbarbitrator start
