  • 1.  VMware Tools Uninstalls Itself (XP)

I am running a Windows XP guest in VMware Player on a Windows 7 (64bit) host. I start the guest. I install VMware tools. It says I need to reboot to complete installation. I reboot. Everything works beautifully. After a few minutes the VMware Tools progress bar pops up and silently uninstalls VMware Tools. Then the next time I reboot the guest I am naturally missing all of the wonderful drivers that come with VMware Tools...

Any ideas why it is uninstalling itself?? Let me know if I need to provide more info. Thanks!

I thought maybe it had to do with me installing from a domain account....

So I created a new local user and added him to the local administrators group and used him to install VMware Tools..... and guess what!

    IT UNINSTALLED!

    canihashelp?

    plz?

    kthx!

    ¿Que raro? :smileysilly:

Could you grab all the vm*.log files from inside your guest's %TEMP% directory and attach them to this thread please?  These are the installer logs, and hopefully they'll give us some clue about what's kicking them off.
