I have read through the MCS guide from VMware for vSphere and it is a little vague on CCR clusters (I think). My question is simple.

The only caveat for CCR Exchange clusters I see in this guide is that they must use physical compatibility mode RDMs. If an RDM can live on iSCSI or FC SAN than does that imply that I can build a CCR cluster node with iSCSI SAN storage ? I only ask because earlier i the document under vSphere MSCS Setup Limitations, it states that iSCSI and NFS are not supported. I assume that this is only for Shared Storage (Failover) clusters and that I can use iSCSI for CCR/

    Thanks.

MSCS Cluster is only supported on an FC SAN by vmware.

Why don't you create an one vm enviroment with HA and FT on and perhepas with LCR?? :smileyhappy:

Right. I guess the question is: Is CCR or SCR for that matter considered and MSCS configuration ?

Perhaps this will clear some questions!

As I known, you do not need a shared disk for the Exchange CCR, what you need is Majority Node Set(MNS) quorum, MNS is just a shared folder.

I did done the Exchange CCR on VMware workstation, I think it's same as the vSphere.

I can tell you from my experience (I also have a thread relating to this which is un-answered) that if you wish to use CCR in vSphere then you DO need to set up a shared storage (often refered to as a Quorom) disk.

I guess what would help answer the question is what OS are you thinking of using in yoru cluster? If you use 2008 you can use a File Share Witness which in theory removes the need of the Quorom disk but in reality doesnt (or at least when I've tried to get the darned thing working).

I'd love to know how you go.

I'm sorry my experiences for Exchange 2007 on Windows 2003 MSCS only. and I have not try the Exchange 2007 CCR on Windows 2008 yet.
