    Hi Team,

If we purechase vmware license through an OEM, than is that license is bounded to that OEM hardware only or we can use that license onto some other hardware after the OEM hardware expires ?

    Hi,

you will get normal keys that are shown in your MyVMware portal and you can use it on whatever hardware you want. (That's how it always worked for me)

    Regards

    Hi,

My concern is that the VMware license can be migrated between different hardware vendors.

Like if I purchase from IBM OEM  Can it be used onto HP later on ?

    Thanks

Yes, you can use the key on any hardware. I use keys I bought from Fujitsu on Dell Servers right now :smileywink:

Buying VMware bundled with your server from IBM, Dell, etc isn't the same is buying Windows, for example, which IS tied to your physical hardware via an OEM license.  As far as VMware is concerned, IBM is just another of VMware software.  When you register the keys that came with your server purchase, you register with with your VMware account, and they show up with any other VMware keys that you bought from whomever you may have bought them.
