running VMware ESXi, 7.0.3 build-19193900 on my infrastructure. virtual machine tools versions  10305. What is the latest vmtools version supported by VMware ESXi, 7.0.3, 19193900?

Is there a website about it? Due to the CVE-2023-20867 vulnerability, I want to upgrade vmtools on virtual machines to VMware Tools 12.2.5 . is it possible to upgrade vmtools 12.2.5 on  VMware ESXi 7.0.3 build-19193900

    Actually 10305 supported only 6.5ep1

Once you clicked on vm and try vmware tool upgrade it will take automatically correct version.

Usually newer version of VMware Tools works on older host versions however check for the compatibility guide. You can upgrade VMware Tools using Lifecycle Manager https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-vSphere/7.0/com.vmware.vsphere.hostclient.doc/GUID-A2491004-1C67-4E14-B47B-807E20C19108.html?hWord=N4IghgNiBcIK4AcDmAnMATAlgOyQAgDcBbAFwHsyIBnEAXyA and Yes VMware Tools 12.2.5 support on 7.0.3 version hosts.

    Please note https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/79442 this behaviour.

I guess there is no VMware Tools 12.2.5 support on 7.0.3 hosts. my physical machines supports ESXi 7.0U3I version latest. how to check VMware Tools 12.2.5 support on 7.0.3 version hosts?

As far as I can see from the table, it has not been released with the ESXi version. I want to know this. For example, I am using ESXi 7.0u3, but what happens if I install the latest version of VMware tools on my virtual machines? Is it a faulty operation or does it support it?

If I need to ask more. my physical servers do not support ESXi 8.0. Is it correct to upgrade virtual machines running on ESXi 7.0u3 to VMware tools 12.2.5?

Here is explanation , you can check interoperability matrix in this way , like I checked for windows 2012 with ESXi 7 U3

    https://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/search.php?deviceCategory=software&details=1&partner=110&releases=578&operatingSystems=183&productNames=15&osFamily=4&osType=4&page=1&display_interval=10&sortColumn=Partner&sortOrder=Asc&testConfig=16

Once you clicked windows server next window will open in bottom tools available

    RajeevVCP4_1-1686921938688.png

then it will show version which is compatible with your OS and host
