  • 1.  VM UUID from guest OS (linux) ?

    Hi,

    I have a VM with guest OS (Linux).

    From within guest OS (linux), is there a way to find UUID of the VM on which guest OS is running?

    haven't tried but not sure if dmesg would help?

    Hello and welcome to the communities.

    Try this:

    dmidecode | grep "Serial Number: VMware"

    /usr/sbin/dmidecode | grep UUID
      UUID: 56XXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX
