  • 1.  VM Template and Customization specification

    Hello,

I tried to achieve this but i guess i am somewhere doing something wrong. I created the VM on Windows 2012R2 and i did a sysprep OOBE with generalize and shutdown. Once i created the file based on the wizard and i start the VM, it always end up into a welcome/wizard screen for choosing language, administrator password and that's it. Afterwards when i log in, there are no changes made in the VM. It is clear that the whole thing didn't work out.

Any ideas what am i doing wrong or how to work around it?

    Thanks.

Do you have any reason not to use vCenter Guest Customization?

Customize Windows During Cloning or Deployment

When using vCenter Guest Customization please don't prepare the VM/Template with sysprep. Just shutdown the Windows machine and convert to template. When you later create a VM from that template and configure to use guest customization, vCenter will trigger sysprep in the newly deployed VM using the options from guest customization specification.
