  • 1.  VM summary tab show changing network ip address

Hi , i need some help with this problem. We're having this weird experience: Some vms started to change the way ip shows at summary tab, changing from ipv4 to several ips (adding the ipv6 info). No configuration changed at VM.

The current fix is to change the guest vm network configuration ot allow only ipv4. Again, the working configuration at vm guest was windows default.

We're changing vmnetwork adapters to vmxnet3 to support 10gb in general to several vms, but this happens also on vms that wasn't modified.

I hope someone can help me understand if this can be some faulty service at vcenter or esxi, misconfiguration or problems with vmware tools.

    Thanks in advance

Summary tab is going to display any IP address tools finds bound to the NIC (static or dynamic).  Are you saying it's displaying the wrong information or just multiple addresses?  In my environment some machines have 2 IPv4 addresses and 1 IPv6 Address so the summary tab displays all of them.

dmeyner22, thanks for the reply. The thing we notice, is that this information that we guess its a vmtools job, sometimes shows ipv4 and sometimes both, but it is permanently changing, like something is happening at the network level all the time....could this be possible, anyone that have been trough this?

We recently installed a new top of rack switch, i wonder if this could be a cause?...

    Thanks!
