    VMWare 6.5   ESXI hosts 6.5

One of my VMS continues to crash. Windows 2016 Data Center.

The Windows Logs do not show any thing.

    What can I look for?

    Thank you

    Tom

Define what you mean by "crash".

    Hi Guys

    Another thing to report here

is any one having this problem on this site?

    Temporary Maintenance

    VMware Portal Maintenance

This section of the VMware website is currently unavailable while we make important user improvements and upgrades to the site. The expected time of completion for the maintenance is 6:00 PM PST.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

    Best regards,

    VMware Team

    Now for the other thing.

Crash means the server shuts down and restarts

Any logs on the ESXI host I can review?

You can review the vmware.log file in the parent directory to get a clue as to what happened.

VMware.log   is that on the ESXI host?   Not sure parent directory is.

Where all the files for this VM are stored. On the datastore.

    Hi

Did you see anything in the VMware log file?

Any thing else to look for?

    1. You have lots of snapshots on this VM. Remove all of them to simplify troubleshooting.
    2. You have a e1000e vNIC configured. You should never use this adapter type. Replace it for a VMXNET3 adapter.
    3. Do you have Hyper-V enabled? It appears you at least have Hyper-V guest tools running which you should not. Remove these.

Start there and see what happens.

Yes, you should change your e1000e adapters to all use VMXNET3.

3.) Look at Windows services for those beginning with "Hyper-V". Paste a screenshot.

They are all set to Manual Triggered

I do not know what installed them.

I could try to disable all of them

    Thoughts?

Also Added to project list to change all network adapters to VMXNET3

    Thanks

Your screenshot indicates this VM was probably converted from a Hyper-V VM. Those services are not needed. Go to the Add/Remove programs applet and remove anything related to Hyper-V. Be wise and snapshot your VM first. A reboot will be necessary.

I found nothing related to Hyper-V  installed.

I disabled all the Hyper-V services for now.

Did you remove all of the Hyper-V hidden devices in Device Manager? Not doing so has the potential of causing issues.

    Open a command prompt window

    set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1

    devmgmt.msc

In Device Manager, View -> enable Show Hidden Devices

Remove everything Hyper-V related and then reboot the server.

    Guys,

After further research I found that the Hyper-V features is part of the Windows Default OS built in

I have not found a way to uninstall this.

I checked all other Windows 2016 Servers on my Home Network and my Work Network and they all have the same services

My home network is ESXI 6.5 as is my Work network.

I disabled the services and the servers has been up since 3/29/2019 5:12:01 PM that was when I changed the network adapters to  VMXNET3 and the cpu settings

Any other ideas let me know

    Thank you

    Tom
