VirualCenter Server Service does not start

  • 1.  VirualCenter Server Service does not start

    Env:

Single server with all services installed: vCenter, SSO.......

    vCenter 5.1.0.335

    Windows 2012

    SQL 2008 R2

    No changes, no Win updates

    Initial issue reported:

Users not able to Log in to vSphere client, "A general system error occured: Authorize Exception"

I thought this may have been down to SSO failure so tried logging in to the Web client with the admin@System-Domain account this failed with "The vSphere client cannot connect to the vCenter Single Sign On server."

    Steps taken:

I restarted the vCenter Single Sign On service - no change

The restarted the VirualCenter Server - this service fails to restart, hangs half way and stops

Check the the db was up and running my testing the ODBC connections

Checked the vpxd log file - I have attached

"Failed to connect to LDAP entry ....... (The object already exists)

This is the entry that comtains the CN=VIMAPI & CN=VIMWEBSVC

I named this out from ASDI edit restarted the Server - No luck so set entry back to original name

I've unjoined and rejoined server to domain

Still the issue persists and I'm stuck

Has anyone else come across this, if so what was the root cause and fix

I would prefer not to go down the road of repair install as I don't see this as fixing the issue, more like restoring services.
