I'm trying to set up Windows Server 2012 on VirtualBox.  It installed just fine, and it can get out on the net if I leave the 10.1.1.1 setting in the IP config.  I've been trying to get this server to be accessable from outside my network.  My router doesn't even see the VM.  I can't figure out which setting I'm forgetting.  I've looked on these forums and have tried a few things, but nothing that I've tried has worked thus far.

I've statically assigned the IP on the server to the same IP range my router sets on DHCP

    I've tried setting remote desktop.

I've tried bridging connections, though that doesn't work at all since I'm using the physical nic to send out the VM requests.

Any help so I can get this to work would be seriously appreciated.

I'm trying to set up a server my friends can get to so I'll need to do some port forwarding, but I need the router to see the server so I can actually do that.

Welcome to the COmmunity - Are you using VirtualBox ot VMware? If you are  using VirtualBox you might want to post your question on Oracle's Communities forum - https://forums.oracle.com/forums/main.jspa;jsessionid=8d92106930d7e283af004d734e9a8dd8d1d792bace54.e38La3uKbh4Oci0Ma3uKa30Oa3aKe0?categoryID=84

If it is VMware which product are you using? This will help trouble shoot the issues you might be having
