vDS upgrade fra 6.5 to 7..0

Hi.

Our vDS is still on 6.5 but need to upgrade to 7.0.3 before upgrade to version 8.x.

Justr been lazy about it.

VMware documentation says you can upgrade directly to a newer version , but also warns a bit about delay fra vDS 6.5 version, and hints about creating av new vDS and mgirate the ESXi hosts over to the new vDS and then vMotion to the hosts on the new vDS.

What is the experince among you?

We were in the exact same boat last week. Trying to upgrade to 8.x but requirement on vDS failed. We've been scared to update the vDS for some reason but we took the plunge and just clicked "upgrade" on it to the latest 7 version. 

Test ping to a server went from 3 to 8 MS for one ping and then everything was normal again.

Hi Tore,

We encountered an issue where some hosts were quarantined/isolated under Host States within the Distributed Switches.

While no outage occurred, we resolved the issue by placing the host in maintenance mode and re-adding it to the Distributed Switch.
