vDS 7.0.3 to vDS 8.0.0 via cross vCenter vMotion (on-premise to on-premise)

Not sure if this should go here (vCenter) or under the Network forum, but starting here.

On-premise to on-premise migration (FlexPod to VxRail).  Looking to move most of the workloads hot/live.  Have done similar from 6.7 to 7.0 for over 3000's VM's, but have not yet worked with vSphere 8.

Source vDS is 7.0.3.  Destination vDS is 8.0.0.  Getting vDS incompatibility errors when trying a cross vCenter vMotion.

I know it's "not recommended" but I tried the 'config.vmprov.enableHybridMode = true ' trick listed in KB79446 as it has worked for me in the past with vDS 6..6.0 to vDS 7.0.3 (note, this KB has not been updated for vSphere 8 yet).

It doesn't appear to be working anymore when going from vDS 7.0.3 to vDS 8.0.0.

Any tips or tricks that I might be missing or am I simply left with pulling an uplink out and building a Standard Switch on one of the source hosts to go from SS to vDS?  I don't want to upgrade vCenter, Host(s) and vDS at source site.

    TIA!

Always double check your advanced settings...

I went back and checked the advanced settings on the Target vCenter for 'config.vmprov.enableHybridMode = True' from VMware KB79446 and it turns out it was miss-typed. I corrected it and now I am able to use the Import VM feature without a compatibility error on the VM's coming from vDS 7.0.3 (provided they are at VM hardware 13 or higher).

I tested a handful of migrations and they work flawlessly. Maybe a single dropped ping, if that. vDS 7.0.3 to vDS 8.0.0 does not seem to be an issue.

No need for a leg into a SS anymore. Now to sort our all the VM's that don't have the VM-EVC enabled
