VCSA-8 installation failed

Hi team,

I am trying to install vCenter Appliance 8 version in my VMware workstation getting this error on stage 2

Please let me know how to troubleshoot this.

Hi,

It's a topic already discussed in the context of this and other forums.

This is so because if you want to deploy a VCSA 8.0x object as a virtual machine in VMware Workstation you have to follow the instructions contained in this blog guide written by Mr. LAM: https://williamlam.com/2022/10/how-to-deploy-the-vcenter-server-appliance-vcsa-8-0-to-vmware-fusion-or-workstation.html

Hi,

A tip (my personal experience, your mileage may vary), for your VMs create a folder dedicated to the purpose that "OneDrive" has no way "to get involved by default". Also consider that the vCenter object wants its resources in terms of CPU, RAM and disk space which are not exactly modest, especially if beyond that you plan to run several other virtual machines with acceptable performance (which of course is always a subjective assessment).

Other than that, you shouldn't run into other "weird" problems.

Thanks for your response. I removed the vcsa ovf file from OneDrive. Extract the contents of the VCSA 8.0 ISO to local C drive, and tried to run the command . Now I  got different types of  error. Please let me know how to rectify this so that i can proceed with VCSA-8 installation. Waiting for your response.

Thanks a lot for your support. Finally after so many attempts, I have done with Step1, step 2, Step 3 and Step 4 -  VCSA OVA to an OVF convert done without any issue. VCSA displayed  the DCUI gray/blue screen with IP address. I proceed with the installation but instillation stuck at 84%.  Do not know what to do next.

I have this problems longer time ago with version 6.7.

I don't remember exactly and can't now so fast find the resolution on net, but if I remember correctly the main problem was in the time. all servers, PCs and VCs should have set the same NTP server and have the same time and as I wrote before check the DNS, FQDN, GW, while this cause many problems by installation.

Good afternoon, I came to this thread after finding the solution to convert the file to ovf format and it didn't work either, and has refreshed my memory with version 6.7. At the time I managed to install it giving access to the internet (from what I see in the old vm with a card configured in NAT, in the current case I have configured it as a bridge, with access to the internet, but I have configured the dns and time services on the dedicated vlan on the firewall...and VOILÀ!!!! I don't remember exactly if I had to add the internal card without touching the NAT card because if it didn't fail, I'll update tomorrow. I hope it works for you.

Thank you for your valuable advice "Deploying a VCSA object is a process that needs its own time so don't be in a hurry and be patient. I will remember this line forever. Finally, I have successfully installed VCSA8 on my VMware workstation version16.This version of vcsa-8 appliance installation is taking too much time.The installation stuck at stage1 in 84%. Here we have to wait.. Once stage 1 completed, stage 2 started, earlier Time synchronization was deactivated, I selected synchronize time with ESXi host. Thank you, all of you who have participated in this thread.

Good morning, I tried hot add and configure a second interface (the installation appliance mark to reserved for HA) and it has stopped working. After reverting the snapshot I have added again the second interface that the appliance reserves for HA and I have not configured it. I've added a third internal card (Host-only) and configured it with my private lab network configuration, and configured with my windows domain controller for dns resolution, firewall virtual appliance for gateway and time server against the PDC:

I access from the two networks without problems, and I have added the esxi with name resolution.

I will try later to disable the bridged interface, as in my old installations of version 6.7, to see if it doesn't stop working. I want to configure the Internet access only through the virtual appliance of the laboratory.

With this method, stage 2 ends in five minutes, in one of the many trys I have waited more than 3 hours in the 84% part and it has not finished.

Hi,

I had also sometimes so undefined error and I was unable to find what it cause, but I have somewhere find an help.

It's needed to check the DNS if ist correct and working if you use it, also NTP, while this makes the biggest problem. By was is the second NTP server what is a backup but it start working as the primary crash so the installed marked this as an error and stop installation.

So I suggest you to double check all settings as DNS (FQDN), NTP, AD and all what you need and will connect to it if all is correct and working.
