  • 1.  vConverter speeds extremely slow

    Hi,

We are migrating a small workload of 6 guests currently running on vSphere and Hyper-v, across the internet via a VPN and into a vSphere cluster of two hosts, direct attached storage running Enterprise Plus licensing.

We have tested V2V conversions using the stand alone converter from both a workstation running at the destination side and a server running on the source side.

Both result in consistent conversion speeds of 240-720KB/s, where other activities across the VPN show a very steady 6.5MBps.

    • We've disabled SSL on the converter worker process.
    • The source and destination are in different subnets, however routing is enabled between them and we've ruled out firewall rules being the cause.
      • This got us past an issue where the job was failing at 1-2%, when i understand the source needs direct access to the destination on the management port (902)
    • We're using IP addresses and local administrator accounts when setting up the converter job.

We've done quite a bit of research and haven't had much luck in improving speeds.

I'd appreciate if anyone has any pointers which could improve the speeds?

    Thanks,

    Jason

This is a network latency issue. Need to run wireshark to understand why there is a latency over VPN.
